Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
February 22, 2013--Great Granny PeeWee (or Ripley--Evolution's Believe It or Not), lost eyesight in her left eye last week. It had been luxated for many years, but with eye drops every 12 hours, her eyesight held. She still gets drops in her right eye, but left eye had to be removed. She wears an elizabethian collar for a couple of weeks until her eye heals enough. We will cross our fingers that her "good" eye will last. Ripley is the dam to Tootie and Vegas, who have both produced some great litters. Ripley will be 10 this spring, and she is still peculiar and sometimes cantankerous, but still well loved.
1/20/2013--Very sad day in Utah as Fergie passed on last night. Condolences to her owners, the Decando's, in Park City, Utah. She was so much loved by them and will be greatly missed. She was a pup from Tootie, Jessica Croninger's girl from our Ripley.
1/20/2013--Jamie wins her Grand Champion Title! Congratulations to Kathy Toomey and Doug and owners! She is now Grand Champion Evolution's Runs With Scissors!
8/26/2012- Blossom (Evolution's Eye Byte for Badlesmere) just had a litter of 2 pups! Both female, from Ch. Bullypins Kaimos (British). One is full white and the other looks like mom, Blossom--black & white, with a half mustache! These two are already promised, but we may have another litter this year with Edna, so fill out our puppy application if you are still interested. See more pics here on the breeding page...
Sept. 9th, 2012--AVAILABLE MBT!!!!!!!!Nigel is back and needs a good home. He is a stunning representation of the breed but never shown because of an underbite. He came back to us as his owner could no longer care for him they way she had hoped. He very much loves people and cuddling. His owner is devastated to leave him and wants a fabulous new home for him-- where someone could adore him--someone with no children or other pets. Nigel has had puppy class as a foundation and has been neutered. I have already taken him to Petsmart, had a positive evaluation by an animal behavioralist, and also to an off-lead dog park where he has successfully greeted over 30 other dogs of all sizes and shapes (he was on a leash). Cost will only be for neutering, some training and evaluations, and boarding. See "Available Adults" page...
August 20th, 2012-- Jamie has just finished her AKC Championship with two back to back Best of Breed wins, which also will go towards her Grand Champion title! She is now CH. June 28th, 2012-- Blossom (Evolution's Eye Byte for Badlesmere) has just been surgically inseminated with fresh chilled semen sent overnight from the Bullypins Kennel in the UK! Thanks Alan and Mary Llewellyn! Their sire has produced so many great MBTs in Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and here in the USA. He has great temperament, confirmation, and health. He has been producing like pups as well. He is also a clear for PLL. See more pics of him and his progeny (and pedigree) here at the World Pedigree Database. His name is Ch. Bullypins Kaimos.
June 24, 2012--At Great Western, Abi finishes her AKC Champion title with 4 and 3 point majors under Bull Terrier judges! She was owner handled by Galyle Denman! Now Ch. Gandalf & Evolution's Abigail Adams, her sire is from Finland, Ch. Bisbull's Very Hot Dog and dam is GCH Evolution's Woop Woop Gandalf. Congratulations Gayle! Thanks to the Jodie Bently family for this great picture of their new baby doggy!(where's the big white beard?) Look for her this spring at the Las Vegas show where we hope to gather all of the show siblings: Zoey, Meisie, Abbey, Marnie, Bob and Blossom (from a Vegas X Jack litter 2 years ago)!
December 11, 2011--Pupu (sire to our pups this year) travels to Sweden and wins BOS over 29 MBTs! Ch. Bisbull's Very Hot Dog is his registered name. Papu also takes the Nordic Champion 2011 title! Way to go Santeri Vaara of Kennel Bisbull's in Finland!
December 10, 2011--Tank (Evolution's 88 Hot-ch-kiss) is still available to a great show home! He is from the Papu x Vegas litter. He is 12 weeks here (picture taken today). He has really great front and extremely good bone. Nice angulation in the rear, good head set and great bite! He has a good personality for show as well and a low tail set. He is the last pup that Vegas will ever produce. His half brothers from his dam Vegas are both ranked top 5 in the US right now in Breed! He is so extremely small and cute that we can't help picking him up all the time and squeezing him!!!! He is Chihuahua size and soft coat (which is not to the standard but great for cuddling!)
December 9th, 2011--Grubbette (Evolution's Egalitarian) is available to a great pet home. She is very sweet and loves to be held on her back and cuddled. She is the last of the Edna litter ("Pick me! Pick Me!") and very small. See YouTube video from 12/24/11 at http://youtu.be/an0Q1kUh8dQ

Look for Jodie's pup in the show ring this spring, Evolution's Eggcentrix and maybe Jessica and Chris's Evolution's Eight up Komatsu might show too!
November 21, 2011--Dozer and Tank at 8 1/2 weeks old (just after meal-time--notice the bellies). Both are from the Papu X Vegas litter. Only Tank is available now to a great show home. He is a potential show pup. Tank, this Black and White boy, has such nice form, and strengths that we hope to find a show home for him. We are so pleased with the fantastic fronts, angulation in back and heavy bone! This is what we had been hoping for by using this great stud dog from Finland--thank you Bisbull's Kennel! Tank and Dozer have two brothers from a previous litter (different daddy...Grub) who are both top 5 ranked in the US currently. In fact Virgil just hit #1 in Breed for the country! Grubette is still available though too--she is small and a sweetie! (see pics below).
November 13, 2011--One female from the Papu X Edna litter is still available at 18 weeks old. Cheryl (First 2 pics) has just found a show home and Grubette just wants a nice family to love--a forever home. October 24, 2011--See some of the picture books we have about Bull Terriers on our "Books Page". Does anyone know of a Halloween book in this genre? (I know the Chess book comes close, The Costume Party (Hilarious drawings--and not shy about showing the plumbing!)

Grand Champion Rank: #2 Nationally and Lifetime Grand Champion year-to-date rank #2 as of Summer2011.
October 14th, 2011--Last pup from the Edna X Papu litter is still left at 12 weeks old, Evolutions Eggcentrix (we have been calling her Cheryl). She is very sweet and loves to play with the Boxer and her siblings! Nice angles in the rear, which is unusual in Minis! She is very heavy boned, and her head looks ok at this age too. Nice front and movement and perfect bite.
Sept. 29, 2011--SEE new video on "Videos" page.....2 pups still available, (Cheryl on the top and Grubette on the bottom).
September 21, 2011--Vegas has her last litter--4 born: black & White male; white female (sadly, she has died--very weak when born); brindle & white female (full white collar); brindle & white male (half white collar). Vegas has been a very good mom! See our puppies page for more pictures. Thanks Piia and Santeri of Bisbulls kennel in Finland for allowing us to use Papu as a stud! September 20th, 2011--two sisters still available from the Edna X Pupu litter at 9 weeks old, both brindle: Grubette, named for her grandpa in England because she looks so much like him, and Big Cheryl (sounded like a funny name at the time--she was the largest of the crew).

August 5, 2011-The Bindi X Papu litter is now 5 weeks old! See the side and front pictures of each at "Puppies". As you can see, the pups are very solid--little beefcakes! Thanks for the great puppy parenting Gayle!
July 20, 2011--Edna (Ch. Evolution Edna's Beastly Affair) has just had a litter of 5 puppies from a great stud in Finland, Ch. Bisbull's Very Hot Dog, or Papu. September 25, 2010--Ripley (now grandma and great-grandma) is still doing great with her PLL (Primary Lens Luxation). In one eye, the lens has luxated completely, or the small ligaments holding it in place have released, and now floats in the back chamber of the eye. This happened a couple of years ago, and the other eye has also partially released the lens (sub-luxated). We see an opthalmologist a few times each year, and the Xalatan drops every 12 hours have been quite effective. Ripley doesn't really show any effects from her PLL, so we don't think about it much. For those giving drops for luxation and sub-luxation, you can buy drops for much less at www.canadadrugs.com. The generic equivalent to Xalatan is Lanoprost and 10 ml costs about $130 USD. Those that have tested as a DNA carrier or clear will still want to get a yearly ophthalmological checkup, or CERF, as Ripley tested as a PLL CARRIER and still became affected for PLL.
September 24, 2010--Raven has just returned to her Maker after suffering with cancer. She loved her Brigham and Morinda Cottam family. We still have one of her pups, Vivian, and adore her.
September 15, 2010--Toby, (Ch.Gandalf's Didgeridoo Calls For Adventures), owned by Allyson Gunter in WA has been on the show circuit. "Toby has been shown limitedly this year and has had several compliments. He is still young so we are letting him grow up some before we special him too much. But I am having a lot of fun with him for sure." Toby is the brother of Bindi and he is from the Duey/Joey litter.
September 2010--Jo Jo, brother to Bindi, Toby, Benson, and Shimmy has died from heart complications. Our condolences go out to Chris Anderson in Axtel, Utah. Sister, Bindi, has been tested clear for her heart via color doppler.
September 1st, 2010--Eddie, (Ch Evolution's Eddie Izzard), owned by Kathy and Doug Toomey, Sallie Cummings and Joy DeGruccio, has just won his Grand Champion title in America. Eddie is the litter brother to Edna and Virgil, from the Grub/Vegas litter.
July, 23, 2010-- Our singleton pup from the (Jack) Badlesmere Blackmail X (Vegas) Ch. Evolution's Pair A Dice litter is very vivacious! She loves playing with the dogs and family and is learning to bite softly. We are naming her "Blossom" in hopes that this will tone down her tenacity! Her registered name will be Evolution's Eye Byte for Badlesmere. Click on her name to go to her new page where there will be more updated pictures of her....(above picture at 2 months old).
May 23, 2010--Born today is a new bouncing baby Mini Bull girl! Our Vegas and Jack (Badlesmere Blackmail) produced a beautiful, flashy, black brindle female. Both mom and pup are doing fine! There was only one pup in this litter this time. Pup will be staying here at Evolution. We will post updates now and then on her progress.
May 17th, 2010--"Here's how we do it..." Oskar and Vegas celebrate their 5th birthday! This is the Ripley X Luke litter of 2005! (Evolution's Believe It or Not X Ch. Bullmoon's Jedi Knight). This includes Oskar, Tootie, Cubby, Carlos, and Vegas! Oskar, otherwise known as Evolution's Jokers Wild, is owned by Jeff and Trudi Aldred, CO; Ch. Evolution's Luck Be A Lady, AOM, owned by Joe and Jessica Croninger, CA; Evolution's Risks It All, owned by the Bortnicks, MI; Ch. Evolution's High Roller, RN, CGC, owned by Chris and Dave Cooper, UT; and Ch. Evolution's Pair A Dice, AOM, owned by Daren and Tiffanie Gisseman, UT. See our VIP's page.
May 15, 2010--We brought Vegas to the vet yesterday to have an x-ray to see the pups (she had recieved a surgical AI from a stud named Jack in the UK--Badlesmere Blackmail). Unfortunately, only one pup is showing! Bummer. This is bad news for everyone eagerly waiting on our MBT puppy waiting list. If everything goes well next week on the 20th, we will complete a c-section birth for the little one. We will post pictures here and on the "nursury" page. This will be Vegas' second litter with a singlton! Also, we will be evaluating the pup at about 6 weeks old (first part of July) in order to decide if we will be keeping him/her, selecting pup for a show home or selecting pup for a pet home. For those of you eagerly waiting for a pup from us, we are so sorry for this news. We will be calling our MBT puppy waiting list in the first week of July. We were expecting a litter of four because Vegas seemed so big--the vet said that she had simply been eating well!
May 14, 2010--Happy Birthday Homer! Homer is a Ripley grandpuppy. He is from Tootie's litter and a brother to Turk and Fergie. He is owned and loved by the Macias family in CA.
March 23, 2010--Eddie (Ch. Evolution's Eddie Izzard), won a Group 2 in February, handled here by owner and professional handler Doug Toomey. According to the AKC listing, he is ranked #1 Mini Bull Terrier in the nation right now! Way to go Eddie! He is from Badlesmere Bete Noire and Ch. Evolution's Pair A Dice, AOM.
March 18, 2010--New pics of Virgil, owned by Carl Pew. Virgil is from Badlesmere Bete Noir and Ch. Evolution's Pair A Dice, AOM.
January 2010--Bindi (Ch. Evolution's Woop Woop Gandalf) [PLL tested CLEAR] has won a couple of BOS in her recent shows with Gayle Denman. Great job at beginning her year of "specialing" with Gayle! In her last show, she was filmed for a National Geographic episode scheduled to play this summer. We will look forward to seeing her!
November 23, 2009--Our good friend, Kathleen Smith has moved from Virginia to Utah this year! She lives just 35 minutes north of us, on her own little hobby farm! While we hope to have a MBT litter this spring, Kathleen has Mini Bull pups available (as of January 19, 2010), and they are going to be very small MBT's! They are a champion sired litter from Ch. Envision/Registan Prince Charming. See her website to check out the cute little guys, now 8 weeks old! www.patronuskennels.com.
November 30, 2009--More DNA resultsfrom the AHT for PLL: Carlos, (Ch. Evolution's High Roller, RN, CGC)--CARRIER. Also, Ripley, (Evolution's Believe It or Not, CGC)--CARRIER. These two are a son/mother combo and they have both sub-luxated/luxated. They are, apparently, an anomoly, as they should not normally luxate.
November 24, 2009--Eddie(Ch. Evolution's Eddie Izzard) wins BOB at Terrier Association Show!
November 15, 2009--Two pups from the "February, 2009 Duey/Joey Litter" have just won their AKC championship on the same weekend! Pictured here is Toby (Ch. Gandalf's Didgeridoo Calls For Adventures), owned by Allyson Gunter, and Bindi (Ch. Evolution's Woop Woop Gandalf), owned by Tiffanie and I and Gayle Denman.
More DNA results for PLL!--October 30, 31, 2009--We have 5 new results from the AHT! Ace: CLEAR (Evolution's Sir Rival of the Fittest), Boz: CLEAR (Evolution's Gallapagos Voyage), Huck: CARRIER (Evolution's Mild to Wild), Pegeen: CARRIER (Evolution's Tinker With Eden), Oskar: CLEAR (Evolution's Jokers Wild), and Virgil: AFFECTED (Ch Evolution's Educated at Silmaril). Nov. 19, 2009--Kenny's results DNA for PLL from AHT: CLEAR, Duey, (Bullistix Doubletake N Evolution) results from OFA: CARRIER. All are on our VIP's Page...(Very Important Pets)! None of these MBT's listed as either "clear" or "carrier" should ever become affected! (The AHT qualifies this with "...[we] cannot exclude the possibility they might develop Primary Lens Luxation due to other causes such as trauma or the effect of other, unidentified mutations"). See the overall list on our PLL page by clicking here.
Also, we are waiting for Ripley's DNA test with some apprehension as she is luxated in one eye already and subluxated in the other. She produced "DNA clears" with Ace, Boz, and Oskar, which would be impossible if her results show DNA affected. So we assume that her results will be DNA Carrier or DNA Clear, even though she suffers from PLL now. This is a very odd case, and probably an annomoly. We would also assume that her PLL is from either another unidentified mutation or trauma, as qualified by the AHT. We have owned her all of her life and the former seems more likely than the latter. Go to our new page for the entire list of our MBT's DNA tested for PLL.
CARRIER PLL DNA test results--October 27, 2009--Vegas, (Ch. Evolution's Pair A Dice, AOM), just tested CARRIER for pll from the AHT.
CLEAR PLL DNA test results--October 22, 2009--Bindi, (Evolution's Woop Woop Gandalf), just tested as a CLEAR for pll!!!!
MBT Nationals in San Jose: October 16-18, 2009--Toby (Gandalf's Didgeridoo Calls for Adventures) wins Friday for Winner's Dog and BOS for a five point major! Nice job owner Allyson Gunter! Saturday, Bindi (Evolution's Woop Woop Gandalf ) wins Winners Bitch for a 5 point major! Both pups are from our stud, Duey (Bullistix Doubletake N Evolution) and Gayle Denman's Joey (Stardom G'Day Gandalf).
NEW BOXER CHAMPION! Sunday, October 11th, at the Idaho Capital City Kennel Club, Inc., our boy R And G's Spellbound at Evolution "Bayne" took Winners Dog for a 3 point major finishing his Championship, under Judge Ruby B. Hertz, expertly handled by Gary Steele, PHA!
Some PLL DNA test results--October 9, 2009--Ch Evolution Edna's Beastly Affair [carrier], Ch Evolution's Mendellian Mayhem, AOM [carrier], Gandalf's Wollongong Shimmy at Patronus [carrier], Bullistix Doubletake N Evolution [carrier or clear], Evolution's Believe It of Not, CGC [affected], Ch Evolution's High Roller [affected]. Read a fabulous article about how breeders can now eradicate PLL within 3 generations, while still using carriers--and even affecteds! http://www.thedogplace.org/Breeder-Exhibitor/Canine-Genetics/BraveNewWorld_Klumb-0010.asp
Eddie Wins Group 3--September 13th, 2009--New Ch. Evolution's Eddie Izzard, aka "Eddie" won a Group 3 today in the terrier group ring! He was expertly handled by his owner, Doug Toomey! Congratulations to Kathy Varian-Toomey and Doug Toomey (of North Carolina), who showed Eddie as owner/handlers today! Also congrats to Eddie's other two owners, Sallie Cummings and Joy DeGruccio! Unfortunately, Eddie wont be at the nationals in San Jose this year, as the date conflicts with the Great Dane Nationals--but Eddie's sister Edna will be there, and brother Virgil will show in the Van Hildrikhusen, and also Bindi will be there to show!
Virgil Wins Group 4--Bindi Wins 3 Pnt Mjr--Bayne wins 3 Pnt. Mjr!September 12th, 2009--new Ch. Evolution's Educated at Silmaril, Virgil), won a Group 4 at the Farmington, UT show today! Congratulations to Dr. Carl Pew, his owner! Also, Bindi, (Evolution's Woop Woop Gandalf), just won BOS for a 3 point major! Congrats to Gayle Denman and the Gisseman's--and thanks also to Lizzette Sheppard for her assistance in showing Bindi! Also, Bayne (RnG's Spellbound at Evolution) wins 3 point major today! He is just one point away from his champion title!
Two More AKC Champions!--September, 11, 2009--Edna and Virgil both won their AKC Champion Titles today! They finished in just two weekends of showing! Their sire is Grub, (Badlesmere Bete Noire), from England, and their dam is Vegas, (Ch. Evolution's Pair A Dice, AOM) from our own stock. Nice going Juliet Shaw! Thanks to Dr. Pew for his expertise. See video of the show on Youtube: (click here)
Three Majors in One Weekend! --September 7th, 2009--Edna and Virgil, both from the "Grub/Vegas Litter", recieved three majors over the weekend at the Greeley, CO show! Each major was also 3 points--so both are up to 9 points after their first showing! Virgil (owner handled by Carl Pew) also went BOB for two days! Eddie, (Ch. Evolution's Eddie Izzard), came all of the way from NC to "Special" for his first time, and ran off with a BOB as well! He was owner handled by Doug Toomey. Look for Bindi and Shimmy from the "Duey/Joey" litter to show again in Farmington, UT this weekend.
Carlos is "Affected" PLL: September 6, 2009--Carlos, from Evolution's Believe It or Not X Ch. Bullmoon's Jedi Knight, AOM, CGC, has been diagnosed on his regular eye checkup with sub-luxation in both eyes on 5/19/2009. He will be going in soon with his owner to have one lens removed before it luxates fully, as it has been deteriorating quickly. This will eliminate the problem of the lens falling to the front or back of the eye. This is a 50% success rate and very expensive. We are so sad for PLL happening to pups that we have produced. We have worked hard to find breeding matches that would be far from the PLL problem, but without success. PLL usually shows itself at about 4 to 6 years old. Carlos has been our only pup from this litter of five with PLL. No other Evolution MBT's have reported PLL--only Carlos' dam--Ripley--who luxated herself in December 2008.
PLL Genetic Marker Found! September 4th, 2009--The Animal Health Trust in the UK has been working for many years to find the genetic marker for PLL in Mini Bulls. They have finally discovered it! Also, the University of Missouri has also been researching this marker, and they have discovered the marker in a separate study at the same time! Studies are expected to be published together as they complement and support each other. Now, we will have a linkage based genetic test for our dogs before 2010! The test will identify genetic "clear", "affected", and "carriers" for future breeding. This will allow breeders to eridicate this eye problem (which makes MBT's blind), within three generations without ever producing another litter with PLL! Thank you to all of our puppy owners who have helped with this research by sending in DNA samples from their MBT's! Here is the link where owners may be able to order the test when it comes available: http://www.caninegeneticdiseases.net/GLX/mainGLX.htm. This test is scheduled to become available by the end of the month (September 2009), through the U of M. They are using the OFA website to sell and distribute it. The AHT test should be following soon.
August 23, 2009--Eddie (Evolution's Eddie Izzard) just won his 3rd major today for his AKC Championship title! At 7 months old, he is our youngest pup to ever win his/her AKC Champion title! Congratulations to Badlesmere Kennel in the UK (Juliet Shaw)--thank you for allowing us to use Grub. We are very proud of his dam, Vegas, who produced a fantastic litter with Grub. Also, congradulations to Eddie's owners, Kathy Varian-Toomey and Doug Toomey (of North Carolina), who showed Eddie as owner/handlers all the way through! Also congrats to Eddie's other two owners, Sallie Cummings and Joy DeGruccio! Eddie finished his Championship with 3 majors, 17 points, and 3 "Best of Breeds" over top ranked Specials! Look for Eddie on the show circuit as he will also be touring the country as a Special now himself! Also, his two other siblings will be showing next week for their first time--Edna and Virgil. Good luck!
June 14, 2009--Bayne (R n G's Spellbound at Evolution) wins two "3 point major's", plus another 2 points in the Idaho shows this week!
June 10th, 2009--We are sorry to announce this very unfortunate and sad news today; Ellee, (Evolution's Ecstatica), died in a tragic accident with a horse. She is from our Vegas (Ch. Evolution's Pair A Dice, AOM) and Bud (Ch. Envision/Registan Magnifica) litter. She was just one year old, just beginning her show career and was a singleton in her litter. She was at Bill's cabin up in the back country when a couple of neighbor's horses appeared around the corner of their cabin. The horses had escaped from their paddocks. Ellee was startled to see them and gave a short chase, ignoring recalls. One horse spun around quickly, reared, and came down on her. She sustained internal injuries and passed on very quickly. She was so active and loving, and even mischeivious in a very funny way. She loved her family immensely and was very much loved and will be missed by them, (the Bill Christensen family here in Utah). We will all miss you Ellee. We are so sorry for your great loss Bill and family.
May 30th, 2009--All of our pups have been placed in their new homes! Gandalf's Dinki-di (left), named "Benson", owns the Meier's in Vancouver, Canada! Gandalf's Didgeridoo Calls For Adventures, (middle), named "Toby", owns the Gunter's in Washington. Gandalf's Wollongong Shimmy at Patronus, or "Shimmy", (not pictured), owns Kathleen Smith here in Utah. We (Gisseman's and Denman's) are keeping Gandalf's Woop Woop at Evolution, (pictured right), named "Bindi". Watch for three of the pups on the show circuit--Bindi, Shimmy and Toby!
May 5, 2009-- Just loaded VIDEO of the 9 week old pups to YouTube! See the two "Joey/Duey Litter" boys (Didgeridoo and Dinki-di) and the little "WoopWoop"girl that we are teaming up with Gayle to own and show. Also, Edna, at 13 weeks is the bigger pup of the four. She is from the "Grub/Vegas" litter born a month earlier. The white MBT is Edna's mom, Vegas. See stacked pictures of the two on our Photo Gallery page.
May 2, 2009--Carlos (Ripley/Luke pup) wins his RA (Rally Advanced) title in obedience! He was expertly handled by his owner, Chris Cooper. Also, some very unfortunate news; on May 19th, 2009--Carlos went for his biannual eye exam and did not pass. His left eye has sub-luxated 10%, while his right eye was clear. We will have a second opinion soon.
April 17, 2009--(Males placed 5/30/09)-- nine week old males. (See the "Duey/Joey Litter 8 1/2 Weeks" on our Photo Gallery page). All the pups are being named on their AKC papers with an Australian theme. See stacked pictures of these two on our Photo Gallery "Duey and Joey's available boys stacked 9 weeks". The first 15 pics are of the split-faced show pup (Gandalf's Didgeridoo--just placed 5/20/09), and the last half of the pictures are of the "pet home" pup, (Gandalf's Dinki-di--just placed 5/30/09).

April 1st, 2009--Fergie (Madhouse Black Eyed Pea at Evolution), is loving her new "Bullie Parents", Damon and Nicole, who live quite near to us, in Park City, Utah. Fergie has been a real head turner as she walks down the streets there in her stylish new coats. She goes everywhere with her new family and gets doted on at home as the only pet. Fergie's new owners went through a rigorous investigion before placement and are proud to have such a fantastic representative of the breed. Fergie is such a good ambassador, and we love her and feel lucky to get to visit her often. She has done so well recovering after her surgery for LCP in January 2009. She began to limp in April 2009 on her other leg and we have completed the same surgery with good results on the right leg as well. Thanks Carl Pew, DVM!
AHT March 29, 2009--Great "thank yous" to our Ripley Litter puppy owners for sending in their DNA samples to the Animal Health Trust study in the UK. The AHT is in the process of developing a genetic test which will allow breeders to eliminate PLL, (which causes blindness), entirely from the breed! Your samples may make the difference! We have recieved confirmation of DNA samples already submitted and mailed: Tootie, Cubby, Carlos, Vegas, Kenny, Huck, Boz, Oskar and Howie. We still need confirmation on Ace and Pegeen.
March 23, 2009--Joey/Duey pups are now 4 weeks old! Two are "split faced" pups, white and black, (male and female). One male is a lighter brindle boy with an even face mask (top right), and a half mustached female, and finally a white faced male. They are all fat, healthy and very active pups.
March 21, 2009--(From Chris Cooper, owner of Carlos): I have really exciting news. Carlos is now "CH Evolution's High Roller RN (Rally Novice) CGC". Today he got a score of 98/100 and fourth place in his class. It was a large class of 11 experienced handlers and the judge was a tough scorer too, so I was really pleased that we placed. Carlos was a little amped up when I got him out but did everything I asked him to (much to my suprise!). He was a little bit of a speed demon but that worked out Ok. He has not been working very well lately so I wasn't expecting much. Last week a group of us set up a full ring and rally course to practice and Carlos had two awfull rounds. He first put his nose down and would not stop sniffing and then he caught sight of a red kite. He was so focused on the kite I could not get his attention. I was calling his name and tapping him on the head and doing everything I could think of to try to get him to focus. He wouldn't even take a treat. I finally got him moving again and he would take two steps and then start staring at the kite again. After that experience I wasn't expecting him to be very good today. In fact I almost pulled him. Good thing I didn't! He was really a star today! He hauled in the prizes too. He got a qualifying ribbon, a fourth place ribbon, a title rosette, a gigantic pig ear, and a jumbo sized bag of pupperoni. Carlos thinks that food is the best prize they could offer. (Also, Chris wrote that Carlos did exceptional with a 93% in the Rally Advanced A, off-lead course, the next day too!)
March 17, 2009--All five of the Vegas/Grub puppies are happily placed in their new homes--2 pups in North Carolina--Evolution's Edgy Starker (half collar boy) and Evolution's Eddie Izzard (dark brindle and white--pick of the litter), 1 pup in Georgia, Evolution's Edrick Has A Wobbler, (open face boy) and 2 pups in Utah! We are keeping Edna (Evolution Edna's Beastly Affair) pictured here. The other is Evolution's Educated at Silmaril (full collar boy).
February 23, 2009--Joey delivered 5 healthy puppies tonight via c-section! All brindle-and-whites (two are dark-brindle-and-white). We will post pictures soon on the nursury page. Congrats Gayle and Chris! Way to go Duey the daddy! See both Duey and Joey on the breedings page.
January 26, 2009--Our littlest family member (just over 12 inches tall) has just had surgery for LCP disease (Legg Calves Perthes). It is common in other small breeds, but nearly unheard of in MBT's. It also can occur in humans. Normally, the inherited problem affects just one leg, but with Fergie, strangly, both rear legs were affected. She has been limping on and off on her left leg for some time now, and after consulting with our vet and also a bone specialist for a second opinion, we have opted for the surgery today. The recommended treatment is to remove the ball of the hip--Femoral Osteotomy. This disease is typically found in young childeren and small breeds of dogs. At about 4 months old, the disease becomes apparent and begins to cause the blood supply to the femur to be restricted for a time. This causes a permanent uneven surface on the ball of the femur. It also causes great pain and limping that becomes permanent. The solution is unanimously the Femoral Osteotomy. After the surgery, the area will form an artificial joint or pocket, and the excruciating pain is eliminated as the surgery heals. We have been ready for the re-hab and therapy required. Fergie is expected to recover fully, but now cannot be bred. We could still show her after recovery, and still not breed her, but have decided to have her spayed and she will enjoy her new career as a pet. She has a stellar temperament and a killer confirmation. We are so sad to lose her from the show team. We had such great hopes for her.
January 20, 2009--We are excited to announce the breeding between Stardom G Day Gandolf and Bullistix Double Take-N-Evolution (Joey and Duey). Litter expected to be due in Mid February. See our Breedings page for more information.
January 10, 2009--NEWS FLASH! WE HAVE MINI BULL PUPPIES! Today Vegas and Grub are the proud parents to five bouncing babies! Four boys and one sweet little girl! Two kids are black brindle and the other three are brindle and white. Check out the new updated pics on our nursery page and the Photo Gallery page! (six week pics updated 2/23/09)
January 5, 2009--Today we took Vegas in to Dr. Carl Pew for her pre C-section X ray and it looks like she is having 5 puppies!! Now her expected due date is January 10, 2009!
December 18th, 2008—Today is Miniature Bull Terrier Eye Clinic check-up day! We went to the eye specialist with:
Fergie, Madhouse Black Eyed Pea at Evolution (5th from left with Chris)
Ellee, Evolution's Ecstatica (3rd from left with Bill)
Carlos, Ch. Evolution's High Roller, CGC (4th from left with Chris)
Kenny, Evolution's Dar Win Again (Far right with Kody)
Vegas, Ch. Evolution's Pair A Dice, AOM (Far left with Daren)
Duey, Bullistix Doubletake N Evolution (2nd from left with Tiffanie)
and Ripley, Evolution's Believe It Or Not, CGC. (not pictured--in the back exam room)
Gayle’s Australian bitch Joey (Stardom G Day Gandolf) was there too-- it was quite a MBT party! Thank you Chris, Cody, Bill, Dick and Lizette for bringing your MBT’s down to get checked out! All of the MBT’s gratefully passed except for Ripley. Unfortunately, she had just developed the inherited PLL (Primary Lens Luxation) eye disease, which ultimately causes blindness. She had actually luxated in the left eye and subluxated in the right eye. Go to Ripley's page to read more…
November 1st, 2008--Sorry for the temporary web outage--it appears you have found us again though at ".net" instead of ".com". Some ingenious individual had "acquired" our domain name and attemped to sell it back to as at a marked up price! Some of the picures are not coming up on the new domain, so we appreciate your patience as we begin to rebuild them. Thank you, Daren and Tiffanie.
October 25th, 2008--At the MBTCA Nationals in Dixon, CA., little Vegas was awarded an Award Of Merit (AOM)! Great job Vegas! Thank you Judge Gail Denman! Also, Vegas's daughter showed at her first dog show at just 6 months old and was handled by her new owner, Carlie Christensen, Bill's daughter. Both Carlie and Ellee handled and showed liked pros! Nice job! In addition, Ripley and Ellee loved their first AKC Earthdog trials! Vegas and Carlos tried as well, but had little interest in the tunnels and the rat at the end. In fact, Carlos wandered, uninterestedly to the perimeter fence and then nearly nabbed himself a cupcake through the fence from the RV parked there!
October 24th, 2008--Best Puppy In Sweeps! Friday, at the SacramentoValley Boxer Club Specialty, Bayne took Best Puppy in Sweeps under Judge Mrs. Betty Aikenhead all owner handled by Tiffanie!
September 14th, 2008-- Carlos wins two 1st place ribbons on his first Ralley Obedience trials! Congratulations to Chris Cooper, his owner, who diligently trains him. Just one more passing "leg" in reaching his RN title!

June 29th, 2008--Aza wins Best In Show at a UKC match! She also finishes her UKC Championship today!
June 24th, 2008--Our little singleton, Evolution's Ecstatica, or "Ellee", goes to her new show-home today. Bill Christensen is her new owner (or maybe the other way around). She has been a lot of fun and we will miss her. Bill and his family live so close that we will probably get to see her often, so that is a nice consolation. We have been building a cyberspace place for her on the "Mini Bulls" page, and we are moving her pictures from the "Nursury" page. Her puppy classes are already scheduled for mid July, and we get to come also! Watch for her at the Nationals in California in October--she will turn 6 months old the day before it starts!
June 15th, 2008--Well Azalea and Julie are truly on a roll!! At the Eagle Rock Kennel Club in Black Foot Idaho Aza goes WB, and BofW for 2 more points! She was expertly handled by her new and very proud owner Julie Higgins! This has been very exciting to be a part of as this is Julie's first boxer and Aza has placed at every show she has been entered in with Julie!!! Way to go ladies, keep up the great work!! Thanks Judge Dr. Carmen Battaglia for seeing what a beautiful girl Aza truly is. She was among some amazing boxers and great handlers! Congratulations to all!
June 28, 2008-At the Eagle Rock Kennel Club in Black Foot Idaho our new addition, "Bayne" participated with Tiff in a Sanction B puppy match. Bayne is only 3 1/2 months old and took BOB only to go on and place a group four among some very nice and more mature puppies!! He won a new plush squeeky toy and loves it!! Way to go Bayne! Might we add this was Baynes first time on a show lead and he performed like a star! He proved to be made for the ring! We are just so thrilled with him and can't wait to see what he can do with the big boys some day!
May 18, 2008: Today at the Mount Ogden Kennel Club showes Azalea took WB and BOS for her second point under Judge Mr. Pete Dawkins. Aza was expertly owner handled by her mom Julie Higgins! We are just so thrilled for them both, this is a new and exciting adventure for them both. Congratulations again on another great weekend!
May 18, 2008: Vivian takes RWB at the Mount Ogden Kennel Club showes under Judge Pete Dawkins. Vivian was owner handled by Tiff =). Vivian is a big but beautiful girl that showes with a lot of class and grace. We are very proud of her and how far she has come to get ready for the ring this year! Viv is our puppy that suffered from a severe case of PANO so its especially nice to see her up and at em again. She is a joy to be around and we are just thrilled to have her with us.
May 11, 2008: Just for kicks, Julie and Aza hit a sanction B Fun Match (so they will stay fresh for the ring this weekend at the Mount Ogden shows). Well, Aza and Julie won BIS at the match!! Too cool--and what fun! Way to go guys! keep up the great work!
May 12, 2008: Justice has a new loving home in Utah, living with Kenny (the Mini Bull Terrier), Kody and Deacon. Thanks Kody for reffering Deacon to us--and thank you Deacon for "taking on" Justice and giving him a great, loving home. Kenny and Justice have already hit it off and are great snuggle buds. We hear they have both taken over the furniture at the batchlor pad already. We are thrilled for you all!!
May 3rd and 4th, 2008: Evolution's Royalty Of The Garden (aka Azalea) goes WB for her first point on the first day, and RWB on the second day! She is owner-handled by Julie Higgins. Aza showed great at the Beehive Cluster Shows here in Utah. Thank you to Judge Christie C Smith for putting up this beautiful girl and confirming what we have known all along, that she is a future star! Also thank you Judge Michelle Billings for seeing the potential in her.We are so proud of both Aza and Julie!! Way to go!!!! Look for Aza at the Mount Ogden Kennel Club shows in a couple of weeks--we will be cheering her and Julie on!!!
May 1st, 2008: Azalea was ECHO tested today by a board certified Cardiologist, Nancy Morris. Aza tested "normal" with no abnormalities, passing with flying colors! Way to go Aza! These tests will be registered with the OFA.
May 1, 2008: Vivian was ECHO tested today by board certified Cardiologist nancy Morris. She tested "Normal" with no abnormalities, passing with flying colors! Way to go Viv! These tests will be registered with the OFA.
April 24th, 2008: The litter from the Vegas and Bud breeding was born today! There were just two pups: an all white female (see Ellee page) and a smaller brindle and white male. Unfortunately, the beautiful little male had a cleft pallette and we chose to have him gently put to sleep, (poor little guy). Vegas is doing fine after the c-section. With some direction and supervision, she is feeding her one puppy, but hasn't quite figured out why she should be interested in this little creature. We assist the feedings and "eliminations" every couple of hours. Tiff and I feel kind of lonely for the single little pup. We can see already that she is a "fighter" and a "go getter"! We are using the early nuerological stimulation program with her, from 3 days to 16 days old--see Ph.D. Carmen L. Battaglia's article on Super Dogs: Developing High Acheivers.
April 15th, 2008: Carlos, (Ch. Evolution's High Roller, CGC), passes Canine Good Citizen test with flying colors! This provides for the "CGC" title at the end of his name. Way to go Chris Cooper for all of your hard work! Look for Carlos in the Obedience Ring this year.
AHTApril 14th, 2008: Exciting News!!! Progress Report Update on PLL (Click link and scroll down to the very last article). "...Because linkage-based tests do not assay for the presence or absence of the casual mutation, but rather rely on nearby 'linked' DNA, they are not 100% accurate, but if carefully designed they can achieve levels of accuracy in excess of 95% and would represent a useful tool...research has progressed sufficiently well that we are now only targeting samples from dogs, of any breed, that are affected with PLL".
Also, as a supplimentary reading, see Klumb's article A Brave New World--Editors Choice as one of the best and most understandable genetic articles. PLL is an autosomal recessive trait.
April 13th, 2008--MBT: Fergie, (Madhouse Black Eyed Pea at Evolution), wins Best of Winners for 2 points at the Sacramento Show over the weekend. Nice job Fergie! It was so great to meet the MBT/Bull Terrier breeders at the Barbary Coast Club dinner/auction on Saturday night. Thank you for your lunches and hospitality! One of Fergie's favorite pals, Candy, showed her in the ring one day, (as Tiffanie had to run to the Boxer ring to show at the same time). Thank you.
March 24th, 2008--MBT: Vegas, (Ch. Evolution's Pair A Dice), completed a surgical Artificial Insemination at Dr. Carl Pew's office on February 21, 2008. (See "Ellee" page for more info.) We have had an ultrasound done today to see if the AI was successful. It looks like at least a couple of pups are showing up so far! Her due date is April 21st, 2008, and we will plan for a c-section as usual. We will not be taking any more applications for this litter, as it will be very small, and all the pups have already been spoken for. If you would like to be considered for a mini bull puppy from a future breeding please refer to our application page.
March 2nd, 2008--MBT: Pegeen, (Evolution's Tinker With Eden), a litter sister to Howie, wins 5 point major over "specials" in AZ! Ripley is her dam and Duey her sire. Pegeen is owned by Phyllis KilCullen in AZ.
Feb. 27th, 2008--MBT: Fergie, (Madhouse Black Eyed Pea at Evolution), completes her puppy class with flying colors! She will be six months old on March 9th, 2008 and we hope to show her at the Sacramento Show the 2nd week of April. Her breeders, Jessica and Joe Croninger (Madhouse), are deciding whether her littermates Turk and Gabby may also show at this one.Fergie will also be at the two Utah shows--first and third week of May--probably with Duey, and Carlos as well. Vegas will have just delivered pups, so we will see how she looks and feels, as far as showing is concerned.
Oct. 2007--MBT: Progress Update on PLL (inherited eye problem with MBT's). Scroll to the bottom of the page.
December 2007--MBT: Revolving Door-- We have one "new addition" and one leaving our pack. Our "new addition" is a little Mini Bull Terrier named Fergie. She is Madhouse Black Eyed Pea at Evolution, from Joe and Jessica Croninger. She was born 9/9/07 in California to a Ripley and Luke daughter, Tootie. Tootie was bred to Gus, Ch Kismet's Excitable Boy (a Smudgie grandson--both maternal and paternal). This little white pup is so funny and endearing! Fergie loves playing with her aunt Vegas, her Boxer buddies and even her grandma, Ripley.
Fergie has learned to "mountian climb" her way up onto the couch; she waits for the "human" to hold a hand out so that she can brace her head and pull herself up. She loves romping in the snow, and stealing chew bones from her pals, and grunting when she wants something. Her favorite thing is snuggling. She is enrolled in the puppy classes for January and February 2008 at Petsmart--with her favorite teacher, Tonya Rogers (a bullie lover from the Bullie "motherland", England). Fergie loves trampling her favorite puppy in the class, the weiner dog! Watch for her in the confirmation ring in 2008!
We also successfully completed the rounds of Mini Bull health testing in December: CERF (eyes), creatine ratio (kidneys), and auscultation/Doppler (hearts). We also have health news for Ripley's first litter: Luke's dam, Dottie, was recently recognized as a PLL carrier--although quite healthy herself at age 12! Along with all Miniature Bull Terrier breeders and owners, we encourage yearly CERF testing for eyes--especially as it only costs around $30! About one in 10 MBT's will become affected.Unfortunately, until the gene is identified that carries PLL, prevention is only guaranteed with first generation interbred litters (one parent a mini and the other a Bull Terrier). These litters have been allowed periodically, and within guidlines, in both Australia and the UK, but not in the USA. As the inheritance for PLL is recessive, and Bull Terriers do not carry this gene, (only minis carry it), the first generation is immune. The second generation though, is not. In fact, Casuja Nyree of Warbonnet was affected, even though one of her parents was interbred. The interbred mini was in fact a carrier for PLL.
December 2007--We were sad but also hopeful to see Fergie's uncle Carlos leaving our pack. He is Ch Evolution's High Roller. He is now owned by and lives with Chris Cooper--in Utah still--only 40 minutes away. (Evolution's Kennel still retains breeding privileges). He now lives with Frenchies instead of Boxers (but he still loves Boxers)! We have great hopes for both Chris and Carlos in their ambitions for Obedience and Agility training. From what Chris says, little Carlos has been loving his new situation so far and is very receptive to the training. We will be cheering for them in 2008!
October 12-13th, 2007--MBT: NEWS! NEWS! NEWS! WE HAVE A NEW HOME BRED CHAMPION! at the Mini Bull Terrier Nationals in Gettysburg, Howie won the five points that he needed to finish his championship this last weekend... he is now AKC CH Evolution’s Mendellian Mayhem, AOM! Friday morning at the National Specialty, Howie took Reserve WD under Judge Mark Phillips. On Friday night at the Van Hildrukusen Trophy Show, Howie was one of four colored dogs (and the only non-champion boy) out of a large and beautiful class entry to make Judge Gregory Anderson’s cut!
During the Parent Club Specialty Show I on Saturday, Howie took Winners Dog for a 3-point major under Judge Lynne M. Myall. THEN during the Parent Club Specialty Show II on Sunday, Howie took Winners Dog again under Judge Phyllis McCombie, earning the final 2 points that he needed to finish!
In the end, Howie finished with 3 three point majors, 2 two point wins, and two singles! He also took two best of breed wins – both over group-winning specials – along the way. We are so proud of Howie and to his owner Kathleen Smith for being such a great friend and companion to Howie and for taking him to the top. He was our pick of the litter and we really knew he was something special right from the start. Howie finished his Championship in only six shows! And what a great way to finish, at nationals!

It's published beforehand in the catalog stating how many MBT's need to be entered for the amount of AOM's to be awarded. In addition to Best of Breed (BOB) and Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed (BOS), a predetermined number of individual specimens may be awarded a special trophy or rosette in recognition of their merit.
